Pete in the Markers' Tour Diaries in Bejeezus:
"Dave Cloud of Nashville got a Black and Blue Magic
Markers CD at the Brattleboro Free Folk Fest in Vermont,
and he sought us out to set up this final show of the
tour. We arrive at the house at 2 am just as the party's
getting started. It was set up as an after party for a
Melt Banana shaw. There was also an 80's prom that night,
so soon the kids in punked out prom dresses start filling
the house. Astral Blessing sets up in living room of this
cool old house with a vulture overlooking the proceedings.
I video for them as they take the party people way far
out to the holy mountain. Paul looks like a wooden Indian,
Dan the consummate rock star, Markus the precision timer,
and Val dials up the other dimension.
"Next we play our most punishing, rocking, upside-down,
broke-ass, insane set. Combining elements of zoned outedness
of Ashville with blister punk of Belchertown, we bring
forth the goodness. I sweat and pound, Leah strums and
screams with grace, and Elisa weilds her guitar like some
kind of fiddle/machine gun while bringing all of us to
unknown planes of energy and motion. The crowd is moved
to screams of ecstatic joy as we bring down our love like
an axe.
"A fucking great end to a tour, we send Astral Blessing
off in new Western style suits to be ushered by the Sunburned
Hand of the Man to Alaskan wedding bliss, as we rode back
home through the green/blue hills of Kentucky."
